  • Blogging

I've a particular interest in blogging. I've been blogging for over a year now on smemon.com and have slowly built up a wealth of information on me, my life, what's hot in cyber space and my opinions on various topics.

I'm set up and helped out setting up and maintaining literally hundreds of blogs, mostly using the 'wordpress' platform, which i feel i've mastered.

My blog acts as a 'thought catcher' - whatever i feel or whatever i think, i'll blog about it there and then.

I've built up over 700 individual articles/posts in that year, totalling a whopping word count of over 160,000.

I've always had a journalism streak in me and if i weren't doing computers, i'd probably be doing journalism. So a blog is perfect for me as it allows me to write freely about online and offline events.

  • Social Networking

If i'm not blogging, i'll more than likely be on social networking-type sites like bebo, digg, boards.ie, webmaster forums etc..

Along with killing time, they are great ways to meet people, gain contacts and learn a bit. If you are an active member of social networking sites that also helps to gain 'trust' when it comes down to business. The more active you are, the more connections you have, and the more connections you have, the easier it is to get your voice heard.

I'm always looking at social networking start ups and keep a close eye on them as i hope to develop my own in the future - BeerChief.
